Synopsis
Actress Kim Sun Ah returns to the small screen in 3 years. Kim Sun Ah has been cast along with Lee Dong Gun in MBC’s drama “When It’s at Night” which will air starting this June 16th. This is the first project since her casting in 2005’s MBC drama, “My Name is Kim Sam Soon.” “When It’s at Night” is drawn from a romantic comic book about a playboy arts scholar, Kim Bum Sang who is crazy about virgins and property assets supervisor and ardent spinster who is looking for a national treasure which causes a turmoil. Kim Sun Ah’s character, Huh Cho Hwi is a 29 year old woman who is constantly mistaken as crafty simply because of her natural-born sexiness. Lee Dong Gun will play a playboy arts scholar, Kim Bum Sang who’s in charge of the safekeeping of the cultural assets. The story will be about how these two will cross paths and how this chance meeting will cause turmoil for both.

Cho-Hee’s father loved Huh Nan Suhl Hyun’s poems and hoped that Cho-Hee would live with elegance and pride like her but unfortantely, their similarities lie somewhere else. They both live misunderstood by others.She was born sexy. She may just throw on a five dollar shirt but her sexiness is unable to be hidden and because of this sexiness, she has lived misunderstood for thirty years. Women feel nervous and threatened that Cho-Hee will seduce their lovers and husbands and men whisper that such a sexy woman must be undoubtedly reckless as well. If she was sweet and gentle, she would be less misunderstood but… she’s icy cold, uses fists before words, cuts short comments she doesn’t want to hear, and there isn’t a speck of cuteness to be found. He devoted his youth to catching tomb robbers. Due to catching robbers, he never once was able to go to his children’s entrance ceremonies or graduations. He’s never celebrated his wife’s birthday. As a result, his children surround only around their mother and he is never treated like a husband or father. Still, when captured robbers are released, he never forgets to buy them a meal and pay for a cab as he pats their shoulder and tell thems to live a better life. That’s why he still isn’t able to buy a house and is still renting. But he doesn’t regret the thiry years he spent catching tomb robbers.Now it’s almost time for him to retire. He feels no different now from when he first started but already thirty years have passed by. There once was a time when the tomb robbers in all of Korea would only heard the name “No Jung-Pil” and they peed in their pants while digging. He knew the entire grave robber community so he could take one look at a crime scene and immediately tell who from where had done it. But its different nowadays. The robbers’ techniques have become more elaborative and surprising. There isn’t much time left before he must step back ang give the young people his spot but… with his retirement right in front of him, many complicated thoughts refuse to leave his mind.

His dream is to become the next chief after Chief No retires. Of course what he wants even more is to quickly leave the enforcement team and be promoted in an easy place like public relations. But he’s been in enforcement for years and no other department wants him. His current goal: promotion! His biggest obstacle is the young but experienced Huh Cho-Hee. He believes that Cho-Hee works hard because she wants to be the next chief and he keeps his guard up around her. He is mortal enemies with Officer Jo from Criminal Investigation Intelligence. He is always worried that Criminal Investigation Intelligence will steal the credit from the Enforcement team.

Besides cultural assets, he likes stocks, funds, real estate…he’s very interested in anything that can be related to financial technology.He tries to seem relatively smart but he is always screwed over by his rather meager knowledge. He’s interested in Wang Joo-Hyun but he’s irritated by the way Criminal Investigation Intelligence’s idiot, Officer Park, hangs around her. So he often gives incorrect investment information. Take that he says, and he acts like Brainy Smurf most of the time but he’s a lazy employee with a relatively kind disposition.

Re-encoding the video to a smaller file size is not difficult. However, making the file maintain the HQ quality requires more steps and sometimes trial and error. We use the program virtualdub and is available free for download. The program does not offer manual though. There are probably tutorials avaiable, so you can just google it.

I tried to re-encode to xvid format using virtualdub , but the results are not good.
Too many big litlle “square pixels” on the movement scenes . Wich configuration do you use to re-encode , without lose quality ?

yep, this is hard subs. I just want to know why you go ahead and download the whole series when it hardsubs? I you just wasted your time downloading ahead of time because you can’t watch it because there is no softsubs for this drama. I think you should just wait until BON release the hardsubs and then download. That’s the only way to watch it with subtitle.

OK, that BON are hardsubbing thidrama, but aren’t they a little too much for letting us wait this for so long? I think that by respect, the other hardsubbing team would like to do subtitling this drama but because BON says they are hardsubbing this so that is why they gave way and dont tept to softsubs it. And as Kdrama addicts, its very hard for us to wait long like this. I’m just so disappointed…sorry…forgive me for saying this!

GORMET and WHEN IT’S AT NIGHT took longer than I though but GORMET is license to doing hard subs is the only way we can watch but if someone out there take on this project, I think it would be much faster to begin with. Hello Admin…you know as one of the many VERY Kdrama addict, who relies a lot on to all the subbers, i hope you understand our feeling of being in the brink of suspence. Watching raw vids, we are trying to undrstand whats going on with the story, and when subs comes out it is only then we really understand the story. We are very gratefull for all the subbers for this. We can’t tahnk you all enough…BUT…as i said in the situation like this with WIAN, we cant help of being disappointed. We dont want to casue any harm between you all subbers. I hope you anderstand.

Before being subbers, we’re also Korean dramas’ fans, so I totally understand your frustration. If there were no subbers, I couldn’t enjoy many great shows out there. But I choose to keep it to myself. Never did I complain once. But it’s up to you whether you want to post here or not. But posting here or complaining doesn’t change anything. We can’t work on the subs if we don’t have time. I guess you have never encountered big events in your life, or you’ve never had to work your butt off for a living, so you might think that being able to watch dramas comes first. We’re sorry but we can’t fulfill your needs.
If you want to watch it, then contribute. Help work on the subs. It would save more time for us, and the subs will be released faster.
You guys should know us very well from our last projects. Being fast is not our style :lol You guys shouldn’t watch these dramas when we haven’t finished the subs. I suggest coming back next year. I bet we will have finished by then.
There are other great dramas out there that have subs, so go watch those. You won’t die missing one or two dramas.

funny how demanding people are when it comes to free service… BON is doing us a favor and yet here we are complaining unceasingly about the speed of the free service… if you are in such a hurry then why don’t you do us a favor and go hire someone to do it for you? or better yet stop watching the darn series and just wait til it comes out in november or december and buy the darn DVD instead? why be such a whiny?

Come back next year for the subs? wow! I don’t mind waiting, but that’s saying a lot. I appreciate what you guys have done so far with Gourmet and this project, and I understand that you guys have lives outside of the drama world. However, I’m sure subbing teams like WithS2 and SARS also have lives, but they are still able to produce the subs at a decent pace. Are these other groups more passionate about subbing their projects, are they more committed to completing their projects, do they not have lives like you guys do? Who knows, only you guys could answer that. Heck, even KST was getting flamed for being slow at subbing Iljimae at one point, but they picked things up and produced the subs at a timely pace to keep up with the demand. And we all know that Iljimae was enormously popular, and KST responded to this and produced. Gourmet and Every Night are also very popular…but…yea.
Don’t forget that we’re also fans of everyone involved in the subbing process since you are filling a gap in our inability to understand the language. All I’m saying is try a little harder to respond to the demand. I’m not saying you should have the subs done within a week of air-time, but I’m saying that u should do more than just close your eyes and say “sorry, we have lives.”

Just as I was getting excited for this drama, then I realised it wasn’t gonna get subbed. Hm..I understand that you have lives, and I would love to help if I could. But a lot of us..don’t know how to. That is why we rely on subbing teams. Thanks for subbing the first two episodes..but what is the point? If you were gonna take one year to finish all the subs..why don’t you just release them all together when you’re finished? Sorry..i’m just disappointed. I wish someone had decided to sub this drama.

I totally agree with ya! I couldn’t say it any better. Instead of trying to understand why the fans are upset, they give excuses with their busy life and all. It not like we know, that’s why we have been waiting patiently for the past weeks. Days turn to weeks and week turn to months and that is why everyone is upset. BON should take KST for example. They were slow but once the fans let them know they started releasing their subs at a timely manner and that makes everyone happy. Sometime fansub groups should listen and try to understand the fans too.

There’s 2 sides to this story of course. It’s easier to attack the fan sub group then to understand them. But heres the thing, I was in a fan sub group before and we were REALLLLLY slow that I seriously never seen anything I edited released until after I left the group. But I’ve realized, If you want to fan sub a new released show that is popular then you better do it quick. Other groups look down upon the slower ones thinking they could do it faster and it causes conflicts between the groups. Also a flaw in my past group was that they took on too many projects. If you guys take on a lot of projects and give us a release every 1-2 months, then what’s the point in that. You should spend all your effort on doing one show and releasing all your episodes then start another show. Of course you guys have lives, doesn’t everyone else? But you have to learn how to balance out your fan subbing. I hope you guys read and learn from what I said. Thanks a lot for subbing this show, it’s really good to watch and I can’t wait to see the rest.

This is the most selfish thing I’ve ever heard.
Do you order fansubbers??? You being demanding and when you got what you wanted, you felt happy? Did you ever think about what you did to the fansubbers? We’re not here to do what you want, we sub it because we enjoy doing that and we can stop whenever we want. It’s no long fun and I’m sick of this.
If you’ve never run a fansubbing group and don’t know what we have to deal with to finish each episode, you’d better shut up.
Go sub it yourself! If we can sit here for hours to learn how to sub, you can do it too. Don’t justify that you’re not Korean/Chinese and you don’t know how to sub. If you really want to sub, you will find a way to do it. You guys just want to watch it without doing anything.
And if you’re not satisfied with whatever others do for you, the only way is to do it yourself. You have total control of it.

you can’t take fansubbing as immediate gratification. these things take time, and i’m happy to know that people are still fansubbing despite some of the dunderheads out there demanding to see results. if you want immediate results, turn to self-gratification — it’s probably the only place you’ll be satisfied.

Yo, you impatient whiners out there. There is a very simple solution to YOUR PROBLEM. Learn a new language so you can enjoy the film. There are plenty of free online resources to to this and by doing so, you might expand your otherwise dull, sluggish mind. It does not take all that long to learn.
Have a little consideration for these guys who have jobs or have to go to school to better themselves in addition to providing a free service to you lazy bums who most likely live on welfare and have nothing else to do but watch the tube or the computer display screen. Get a life or get out of it.

but dont you think that the person who is subbing episode 6 should maybe subb a diffrent episode maybe later on in the series since they obiously dont have time for it. im not complaining or anything, its just a matter of organization skills. if you have little time to subb take your time and subb episode 13 or something. episode 7 is already done according to dramawiki so maybe the person who subbed that should subb 6 too.

HI amendez, this is me, alodia - temp coordinator for WIAN. Thanks for your suggestion. Of course we have thought about the situation (even much more than you guys did). I could simply assign a different translator earlier but there are some things to consider… In fact I’m the saddest person because we can’t release ep7 even though we are done with it. But rest assured that we are not just sitting here and waiting for a miracle with episode 6. We are doing something. I just don’t want to explain everything that we are doing in details here. Rest assured we are working our best… me and the rest of the team are working hard even during the holidays. Thank you for your patience and support as well. This project will continue and will be finished no matter what. All the episodes have been translated already. We are not in competition and don’t want to compete with other subbing groups. We treat them as colleagues. However, BON will not start a subbing project that has already been started by other groups. Our efforts will be best utilized on other unsubbed dramas.Our subbers are doing WIAN for the love of KSA and the fans. Other groups probably do it for the same reason.

I found that playing the episodes in VLC media player seems to work the best, I did find that some of the episodes had some issues with playback on one of my machines, it seemed that an application running in the background was preventing it from playing properly so I backed out of that and it played fine then. FYI.

@crystal_cheny, I far as I know, When It’s At Night is not from a manga. I’ve been following WIAN from the first news article that came out until today and I haven’t come across any that mentions about it being drawn from a manga. ^^ @ Nokcha, I have downloaded both versions of EP6 and both plays fine on my PC (GOM and Media Player Classic as well).

first of all, thank u for subbing this wonderful series, really appreciate it ^^.
I’ve just downloaded all 17 eps XD.
the only thing that confuses me is i can’t play eps 4. i’ve downloaded the same eps twice. but i can play all the other eps just fine ^^
am i the only one who has this problem?
if so…well, i still don’t know how to solve it.
i’ve tried downloading all the codecs but the result is still the same.
only eps 4 that can’t be played :(

Can you download from D-addicts.com torrents? There are still seeders for Episode 4.
Or you can try download again from MU. But, first delete the non-working file.

Thanks for all of the hard work. I patiently waited until all of the episodes had been subbed. It’s amazing that I read comments by so many selfish people who don’t realize the time and effort that goes into subbing a drama.
